Maddie and Joey’s spring wedding at Mount Fair Vineyard in Crozet, Virginia was both.

Set just outside Charlottesville, Mount Fair Vineyard provided the perfect backdrop for a joyful garden party celebration. A perfect spring day, lush gardens, colorful blooms, and the people they love most created the kind of atmosphere that feels effortless, even though so much thoughtful planning happened behind the scenes.

From the moment the day began, Maddie and Joey were completely present. They had spent months planning every detail, and when their wedding day finally arrived, they let go of everything else. They trusted their vendor team, embraced every unexpected moment, and soaked in every second together. It was a beautiful reminder that the best wedding days happen when couples allow themselves to simply experience them.

A Garden Party Filled with Thoughtful Details

The ceremony took place on the lawn of the Paddock House, surrounded by the natural beauty of Mount Fair Vineyard. After exchanging vows, guests wandered through the gardens for cocktail hour before gathering for an unforgettable al fresco reception beneath glowing string lights.

Every design choice reflected Maddie’s vision.

Instead of hiring a florist, she designed the florals herself, creating timeless arrangements filled with fresh white flowers and lush greenery. Her own bouquet added a whimsical pop of pastel color, while colorful bud vases scattered throughout the reception tables brought in cheerful touches that perfectly complemented the spring landscape.

Garden umbrellas provided shade for guests during cocktail hour, textured vessels and pedestal arrangements added height and dimension throughout the space, and blue menus paired with floral place cards created a table setting that felt playful without sacrificing elegance. One of our favorite details was the colorful seating chart displayed on a rattan screen, welcoming guests into the reception with personality and charm.

Everything felt intentional, relaxed, and perfectly suited to a spring celebration in Virginia wine country.

The Moments Everyone Will Remember

While the design was stunning, it was the joy throughout the day that made this wedding unforgettable.

Cocktail hour featured a jamón carving station that quickly became a guest favorite, while dinner gave way to an evening full of laughter, dancing, and one of the best surprises we’ve seen.

Family and friends coordinated a flash mob to Dancing Queen, filling the dance floor with smiles before inviting Maddie and Joey into the celebration. It was impossible not to smile watching everyone come together in such a fun and unexpected way.

Later in the evening, guests visited the couple’s cookie table, where family members had lovingly baked dozens of homemade cookies. The display honored a cherished family tradition while giving guests something sweet to enjoy that night and take home as a favor.

Every part of the day reflected what mattered most to Maddie and Joey: celebrating with the people they love.

A Wedding Built on Trust

One of the things that will stay with us long after this wedding is simply who Maddie and Joey are.

They are thoughtful, organized, kind, and deeply respectful of everyone around them. Throughout the planning process, they approached every decision with grace, and on their wedding day they chose to fully trust the team around them.

Like many weddings, the day included an unexpected challenge behind the scenes when a catering issue affected the timeline. Because of the preparation leading up to the wedding and the collaboration between the vendor team, Event Lane was able to adjust and carry on with the evening.

Maddie and Joey never had to carry that stress. They simply enjoyed the day they had worked so hard to create.
